The Betty and Michael D. Wohl Veterans Legal Clinic at Syracuse University provides representation to veterans and their families who are seeking benefits from the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) or upgrading a military discharge through the various military branches. 

Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans (EBV) at Syracuse University

The EBV program leverages the skills, resources and infrastructure of higher education to offer cutting-edge, experiential training in entrepreneurship and small business management to post-9/11 veterans.  The entire EBV experience, including travel and lodging, is offered without any cost to participating veterans.

National Military Family Association

This organization offers advocacy and support to military and veteran families through programs such as Operation Purple Camp for military kids, family retreats, Healing Adventures, and military spouse scholarships.

​Wounded Warrior Project (WWP)

WWP serves veterans and service members who sustained a physical or mental injury, illness, or wound while serving in the military on or after September 11, 2001. Family members of these warriors are also eligible. All WWP programs and services are offered free of charge to warriors and their families.  WWP offers programs focusing on mental health and wellness, physical health and wellness, financial wellness, and independence.

​Higher Ground uses recreation, therapy, and continuing support to give people of all abilities a better life.  They provide over twenty week-long programs and day programs to veterans nationwide every year.

Warrior Salute Veteran Services

Provides free mental health counseling and case management services to veterans, active duty military, and reservists in Monroe County, NY.  Provides family educational support as well.  Warrior Salute specializes in trauma and PTSD, but provides support for a variety of concerns, such as nightmares and sleep disturbance, anxiety, depression, anger, etc.

WNYHeroes provides veterans, members of the armed services, and the widows and children of deceased veterans with access to essential services, financial assistance and resources that support their lives and sustain their dignity.

Heroes on the Water

Alternative therapeutic programs for veterans, active-duty military, first responders and their families.   Provides no-expense kayak fishing trips and family-focused events.

Outward Bound Veterans Expeditions

Outward Bound Veterans Expeditions focus on team camaraderie and the opportune challenges available in nature as tools to build connections and successes beyond military life. These expeditions encourage participants to explore their strengths and bond with fellow veterans in a safe, positive, goal-oriented environment that allows each veteran to apply their service skills in new ways.  These expeditions are open to active duty service members and veterans of all conflicts who have deployed as a part of their service.

Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing is dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled active military service personnel and disabled veterans through fly fishing and associated activities including education and outings.

Veterans Yoga Project (VYP)

VYP aims to help veterans, active duty military members, and their families move from post-traumatic stress to post-traumatic growth more quickly and gracefully.  VYP supports recovery and resilience through yoga classes, which are offered in-person and online.

Gathering of Mountain Eagles

Gathering of Mountain Eagles provides opportunities for wounded or injured American military service members and selected family members to enjoy the therapeutic effects of adventure activities and relaxation opportunities primarily within the states of West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
